Losing weight is truly about gaining life, doing things you never thought you could, having renewed confidence, and enjoying your body more than ever. This week on the podcast, we’re going to explore a totally new way to look at losing weight. I believe this could be an eye-opening and liberating perspective for many of you.
A Totally New Way To Look At Losing Weight
The Invitation
Most of us see weight loss as a problem we need to fix. We think, “I don’t like my body; I need to fix it.” Today, I invite you to stop seeing your body or weight issues as a problem and start seeing them as an invitation.
This new perspective offers two invitations:
- Stay Where You Are: Keep doing what you’ve been doing, repeating the same patterns and staying in the same place.
- Create a New Life: Embrace new habits, new thought processes, and a new lifestyle. As you do this, your body will follow. Your body is the result of your habits and life, not the cause.
Life Gained, Not Just Weight Lost
When you begin to create a new life and new habits, you’re not just pursuing weight loss. You’re building a lifestyle that will lead to a healthier, more fulfilling life. Your body will change because it follows your brain, habits, and life.
Real-Life Success Stories
Consider these amazing stories from my coaching group:
- Improved Health and Energy: One member reported, “My memory has improved, my blood pressure is normal without medication, my clothes are looser, my arthritis and acid reflux have lessened, and I have energy every day. Corey, you’re right; the scales don’t tell the whole story.”
- Reversal of Fatty Liver Disease: Another member, who had severe hepatic steatosis (fatty liver disease), saw their condition improve from severe to mild. Their liver fat reduced significantly, and their ALT levels (a liver enzyme) dropped closer to normal. This is life-changing.
The Recipe of Your Life
Where you are right now is not a failure or a problem. It’s the result of the “recipe of your life.” Everything you’ve experienced, from childhood to now, has led to this point. Factors such as genetics, childhood experiences, personal and social influences, traumatic events, and your relationship with food all contribute to your current state.
Understanding this helps you see that your body and weight are the results of your life experiences, not the root cause of your problems.
Acceptance and Change
Acceptance is crucial. It doesn’t mean giving up; it means acknowledging where you are and how you got here without shame or embarrassment. From this place of acceptance, you can begin to create new habits and a new lifestyle that truly serve you and lead to genuine self-care. You have a choice: continue on the same path or embrace the invitation to change. It’s not just about losing weight; it’s about building a new life that leads to a healthier, happier you.
Practical Steps Forward
- Self-Care: Focus on habits and a lifestyle that supports your well-being.
- Mindset: Shift your perspective from weight loss as a problem to weight loss as an invitation to a better life.
- Community: Join supportive groups and surround yourself with encouraging people.
Remember, there’s so much more to you than a number on the scale. Losing weight is about gaining life and living the life you’ve always wanted. Even if you’ve struggled, even if you’ve felt like a failure, keep coming back. We’ll keep working together, and we will get you there. Always remember, you are more than just a number.
